We are against any effort to amalgamate conservation authorities. Especially at this time of climate change with the threat of flooding, fires, and other natural disasters, we need our conservation authorities to be local to our communities where they can quickly respond to these challenges. We are also observant of the many people who have either donated or sold properties to the local authority, properties which will now be under the jurisdiction of some far-off authority with little knowledge or interest in local matters. Financially, the huge cost of amalgamating the authorities is reprehensible and unnecessary.
