I live on the north shore of Lake Superior. The decision to merge the Lake Superior region with southern Lake Huron does not make sense. The two areas are over 1000 K apart and are different in every aspect from ecosystems, climate, a boreal forest vs a deciduous forest. Where would staff be located? Would northerners have to talk to someone in a call centre based in southern Ontario when needing information or reporting a problem? In my experience, people in southern Ontario have no idea how far Thunder Bay is from Toronto or say Goderich on Lake Huron.
It does not seem that Northwestern Ontario is represented at all in this proposal.
