As a senior citizen, I have been a resident of Oakville for 11 years. I have been particularly happy with the low-density feel that I have experienced in Oakville. The buildings are not tall and have been built with significant thought and planning as to how many people might be clustered in one area, how they might travel on transit or park near facilities, and access health care, as well as shopping. In particular, access to green spaces for all ages has been a priority, so I can easily walk along maintained trails in woods or walk along the lake. The plans that Oakville's Council has had over the years for carefully placing buildings that can accommodate and serve the needs of it's increasing population have not threatened the maintenance of a very unique, family-oriented small town. I do not want that special feeling to disappear, which most residents of Oakville cherish. In fact, it is the main reason many of us decided to live here.
I DO NOT want the Ontario government to impose the MZO's on the Town of Oakville. The MZO proposals are ill-considered and do not have the residents of Oakville in mind. I do not want the tall structures in mid-town Oakville, nor the density of population they will allow. Jamming people into these structures, without adequate roads, transit, parking, or green spaces will be detrimental to all residents of Oakville. The plan that Oakville has for the same area is much more in tune with the needs and desires of its residents.
