I think this is a very important initiative that I am very supportive of and would like to see actually happen - and not 20 years from now - NOW. I don't have any specific comment on the chosen routes, but I can say as a cyclist, especially in the GTA which is so crowded and growing so fast, there is a need to create safe routes for cyclists. It is hard for cyclists to find safe routes, especially for longer trips. Not just safe ones, but ones where they feel welcome. On the road, cars don't want us there because they see us as invading their space - it is the same on mixed use trails such as the Waterfront Trail along Lake Ontario. It is impossible to cycle there on a weekend on many stretches because it is full of pedestrians, who don't want bikes there. So it often feels like we don't belong anywhere. I want to see more cycling ONLY routes with safety features (i.e. dedicated lanes, elevated lanes, posts, etc).
