After reading through the proposal I have many concerns. My first concern is the request to double the daily processing. The second concern was the request to almost double the storage capacity. My next concern is the request to change the expansion of the service from Ontario to ALL of Canada.
Ramara Township is a rural agricultural township not a township that should be allowing a business to not only allow it to double its daily service but almost double its storage capacity but allow its request to service All of Canada.
If soil is coming to this township when is it determined to be acceptable?
If it is coming from outside Ontario who is monitoring said soil? After it gets here? If it is untreatable how long can it stay stored and how safe is said storage area?
Who is monitoring the soil coming in and how often is it monitored?
How safe are wells on the properties around this facility?
How many trucks per day will there be with the request to double the daily service?
Truck traffic in Ramara is already a concern to many residents. The wear and tear on the roads/higheays is obvious. The asphalt on Hwy 11 heading south from Washago is over due for resurfacing. Trucks are travelling 15 and 20 km/hr over the speed limit in order to get as many trips in a day as possible.
Since the Premier of Ontario has taken away photo radar Ramara Township is unable to control the speed of traffic through a posted 60 km school zone with out an OPP cruiser present and trucks are exceeding the speed limit daily.
I strongly disagree with this proposal with concerns of possible well contamination, concerns over soil monitoring, storage of contaminated soil until it can be transferred to a facility, high volume of truck traffic, speeding trucks from drivers trying to get as many runs in for the day and the fact that it does not bring any job opportunities to an agricultural community.
