Thank you for the opportunity to provide comments and feedback on the Province Wide Cycling Network. Given the economic, health and community benefits of cycling, it is encouraging to see this initiative moving forward and that the route comes through the Town of Wasaga Beach. Staff have reviewed the proposed route within the municipal boundaries and noted that there may be better options within Wasaga Beach for the network to follow due to existing infrastructure, signage, points of interest and tourism assets. As such, an e-mail will be sent to CycleONStrategy@ontario.ca with a map indicating the preferred route as well as GIS files to assist.

Prior to finalizing the route, we would strongly encourage direct consultation with the municipality to ensure that the route identified is feasible. For example, staff have noted that there are currently sections of the draft route that cross private property, where alternative public property connections are available. Additionally, given the significant land holdings and interest of Ontario Parks within the municipality, we encourage you to consult with Wasaga Beach Provincial Park as well.

We look forward to continuing our dialogue with the province and further consultation in regards to the development of an implementation strategy, including funding programs to support implementation.
