This comment pertains specifically to the route of the Provincial Cycling Network north of Peterborough toward Bancroft. Highway 28 from Lakefield to Bancroft is a logical route for the network however it will require either paved shoulders or a bike lane separated from the roadway. This highway experiences a lot of traffic and even travelling short distances on it is currently harrowing.
Furthermore, the Highway 28 bridge at Haultain is currently planned for replacement over the next 3 years with construction due to start in 2017. Please consider adding a paved bike lane to the bridge design given that it is planned as part of the Provincial Cycling Network. When bridges do not have sufficient width for cyclists they are become dangerous 'pinch' points where cyclists need to dangerously time their crossing when traffic is absent.
I applaud the creation of the Provincial Cycling Network and believe it will have tremendous benefits for tourism, cycling, and health outcomes in Ontario.
