The Township fully supports the proposed shift toward electronic submissions and the removal of the requirement to provide original or certified true copies of documents to the Ministry. This change will modernize processes, reduce administrative burden, and improve overall efficiency for municipalities.
To further enhance this initiative, the Township recommends that the Ministry consider implementing a centralized digital portal, such as integration with a My Ontario Account, where required documents can be securely uploaded and stored. A system similar to the Ministry of Transportation’s (MTO) online services would be particularly effective.
Such a platform would:
Eliminate concerns related to file size limitations associated with email or third-party file transfer systems;
Provide a secure, standardized method for submissions;
Improve tracking, confirmation, and record-keeping for both municipalities and the Ministry.
The Township would recommend that the Ministry consider ease of use and the requirements of users, including piloting any digital platform prior to implementation.
The Township appreciates the Ministry’s efforts to modernize its processes and encourage continued investment in digital tools that support streamlined and user-friendly service delivery.
