Banning municipalities to require green or sustainable building standards is frankly COMPLETELY IRRESPONSIBLE. The same can be said about eliminating requirements for climate adaptation in official plans.
Don't you want to have a future where your kids can breathe without wildfire smoke?! Leave municipalities alone! Let our municipalities decide what kind of cities we want to live in! Let them choose if municipalities want requirements for electric vehicles parking. Municipalities must retain authority to implement green development standards, and other lot level standards that support climate resilience and livable communities. Site plan control is a critical tool for sustainable and climate-resilient development. Please respect municipalities’ authority to require low-carbon, efficient, and resilient development.
