Township of Ramara Council met and agreed to send the following comments on the Cycle ON Draft Strategy Plan.
SUGGESTED MOTION:
THAT we forward the included comments to Cycle Ontario as provided by the Ramara Trails Committee on their 2017 Cycling Strategy draft plan.
BACKGROUND & DISCUSSION:
The Trails Committee met on Tuesday April 25th, 2017 and discussed the Cycle Ontario Strategy plan in its draft stage. The following comments were collected to be sent to Cycle ON on behalf of the Committee:
•Overall, the report is well thought out and easy to read. •The proposed Concession 7 to Lagoon City trail is shown as a trail to be developed on road when it is in fact an off road trail route along an abandoned rail bed •Ramara seems missing from the priority routes list. There is a route listing Orillia to Uxbridge via Beaverton and Cannington- it should read via Ramara Township. •It should be highlighted that only 3.5 km needs to be developed to make this connection a reality. •The report should have more clarity on connectivity of trail systems •The report should emphasize more on the safety aspects. There are concerns with some of the routes being on MTO roads ( like Provincial Highway 12) •The report should have some consideration on accessibility and terrain. Not all bike tires are made alike and therefore do not all meet the requirements for a trail.
