My concerns revolve primarily around several key points: the lack of public consultation for this proposal, not following the Municipality of Chatham-Kent policies and Minicipal Act requirements for consultation regarding our Official Plan and Comprehensive Zoning Bylaw. Council didn’t approve 900,000 TPY, we approved 370,000TPY. Which is a major difference. The zoning amendment also has a difference between waste processing vs waste disposal. This project should be much more transparent.
In addition, the odour that already comes from the current Greenfield plant is terrible. The smell is overwhelming many days of the year where you cannot open your windows or be outside because the smell is so overwhelming. I am worried adding human waste tk this site will make this even worse and continue to negatively impact the quality of life of thousands of people living in Chatham-Kent.
