As a regular bike commuter I avoid any roads with speed limits above 50km/h even when they have the painted "bike lanes". Reasons - painted "bike lanes" sometimes disappear at intersections, highway on/off ramps, bridges - painted "bike lanes" are not maintained at the same level as the main roads - not enough distance between fast traffic and painted "bike lanes"
For the same reasons I would never consider any of the extra city cycling infrastructure along provincial roads for recreational cycling.
For the same reasons I would never recommend Ontario as a destination for cycling tourism.
