It is recommended that the municipality of the City of Kawartha Lakes and specifically the Kawartha Lakes cycling routes that were designed and are promoted by the municipality be considered as new on road routes to the provincial cycling route. There is one route in particular that is an ideal addition as a proposed on road route- the “Farm Country Ramble”. This route connects directly to the Trans Canada Trail and runs through the villages of Oakwood, Woodville and Cambray.  Spokes for Folks, a prominent cycling outfitter is located in Cambray along this route and offers many services to cyclists including showers,  bike repairs, and rentals among many other cycle friendly amenities.  This route also brings cyclists right into the town of Lindsay to the Days Inn & Suites hotel which is recommended by Ontario by Bike as a cycle friendly accommodation and is located on the TCT. This is an on road cycling route that does not have designated cycling lanes but it is signed by both share the roads and route signage and has low traffic counts – there are no “high traffic areas” identified on this particular route.  Furthermore, this is one of our most popular cycling routes frequented by our local Kawartha Cycling Club. Please take the addition of the Kawartha Lakes Farm Country Ramble cycling route into consideration as an additional on road route that will connect with the Kawartha Trans Canada Trail and contact us with any questions or for more information.
