In eastern Ontario, I would like to see the MTO spine route come south through Mississippi Mills rather than proceed from Arnprior directly into Ottawa. There are beautiful and more interesting attractions along this route, including the historic town of Almonte, with its many eateries, tourist shop destinations and festival events. This is the best route into the National Capital Region. The trails that go through our town and meander beside the Mississippi River will link up to the TransCanada Trail and safely ride into the western neighbourhoods of Ottawa.
As a bike-friendly community with a ton to offer its cycling guests, Almonte should not be bypassed when drawing up the cycle circuits in eastern Ontario.
