The fact that industry in Hamilton is already regularly exceeding the legislated limits on toxic emissions, as evidenced by the number of incidents being reported to the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, demonstrates the need for regulation to be made more rigorous, not less. Some industries have shown that it is more than possible to be profitable and productive without poisoning the communities which host them. Ontario should compete with the best business environments in the world, not the most toxic.
