Although I appreciate the need to provide development and job opportunities in the north of Ontario, total repeal of the North Act and environmental protection as one of its foci seems shortsighted. In addition, I believe, the repeal of the act merely serves the government's position of enriching business owners with little care for anything else.
The Land Use Act, which would be the fallback, has absolutely no provision for the preservation of the environment. Without a robust system of environmental protection the repeal of the act is short-sighted and stupid.
