One in two Ontarians live near one of the 25 reactors that line the shores of the Great Lakes. Public safety is at risk with vulnerable communities inadequately protected with existing nuclear emergency measures.
Nuclear energy production is 20th century technology. Canadians deserve the best practices possible for daily energy needs. Evidence-based science has demonstrated that nuclear energy production poses too many risks in terns of operation and end product. Globally, as Canadians, we are well aware of the nuclear disasters which have clearly shown we can do better.
The Ontario government should protect public safety and prevent needless risks to health and society by embracing and supporting renewable energy and energy conservation projects. Renewable energy production is 21st century technology.
