I think it should be clear to everyone by now that nuclear accidents can occur.
After Chernobyl, Three Mile Island and Fukushima, there is no excuse for failure to create sound emergency plans.
If Ontario still does not have emergency plans, one has to wonder why. Perhaps the government is being cheap -- at the expense of public safety and security.
Perhaps there is insufficient separation between government and the nuclear industry.
If a nuclear accident does occur, potentially millions of people will be looking for someone to blame.
I think it is very likely that government officials would go to prison -- for a long time.
Perhaps thinking about that will provide an incentive to finally do what a responsible government should do.
