Thank you for the opportunity to comment on the proposed amendments to Ontario’s Energy and Water Efficiency Regulation, as posted on the Environmental Registry of Ontario on February 5, 2019.
Electronics Product Stewardship Canada (EPSC) is a not-for-profit, industry-led organization with a membership comprising leading electronics manufacturers.
EPSC supports the proposed amendments to the Energy and Water Efficiency Regulations posted on February 5, 2019, particularly with regards to the following sections:
1. Televisions: Amend regulation to exclude ultra-high definition (UHD) 8K televisions from television on-mode requirements.
2. Battery chargers: Amend regulation to allow for a prescribed label (e.g. verification mark) to be placed on either the product or the product’s packaging aligning with NRCan’s energy efficiency labelling requirements for this product.
3. External power supplies: Amend regulation to allow for a prescribed label (e.g. verification mark) to be placed on either the product or the product’s packaging aligning with NRCan’s energy efficiency labelling requirements for this product.
We greatly appreciate the Ministry’s efforts to amend these regulations.
