Current emergency planning for major accidents at Ontario's nuclear power plants is woefully inadequate. As unlikely as a major accident is, it is important to plan for the possibility. Our province has not done this. There are few parallels in North America with the proximity of a nuclear station like Pickering to such a major population centre. As such, it is even more important that a complete and credible nuclear emergency plan be created, communicated to and tested among the many millions of Ontarions that live within a 30 mile radius.
