I would like to applaud the MNRF for this decision to change the CLUPA concerning the Amethyst Highlands(old brook trout triangle). This change to an EMA will surely go a long way to protecting the brook trout populations in these areas. There is still some concern in regards to groundwater recharge areas as no definitive studies have been done to delineate these areas. As someone who has travelled and fished in this area for 50 years, this is the most forward thinking solution to the problem of overfishing since the change of ice fishing rules that eliminated the near destruction of the fish population .
