Dear Minister Clark: For too long provincial rules have favoured developers over people. I strongly believe the amendment outlined in OPA 405 needs to be approved so that growth occurs more responsibly and ensures that: - social services such as childcare, seniors supports, and youth recreational programs are in place to support residents quality of life -green space, public squares, community centres, are provided to make Eglinton-Yonge a more liveable neighbourhood -hard infrastructure, such as pipes and wires, are adequate to make our community work in the long term -new transit options, including single-fare espress buses on major north-south routes, are created to relieve pressure on the overcrowded Yonge subway line Please see the longer term issues of quality of life over solely maximizing tax revenues with unbridled development. Quality of life issues are more than nice-ities; they are investments in future social cohesion, health and crime reduction.
