The plan sounds very exciting and I commend the city for foresight in planning while such change is going on in the city. I have lived at Yonge ad Eglinton for 10 years and love that it is so busy and growing. 1. Transit: although the transit connections are excellent, the Yonge Subway Line is not acceptable for the number of people living in the area and continues to be overcrowded and underserved. With the new crosstown, this will become much worse. There need to be new bus routes on north south streets or a massive increase in capacity. Most people in the area would ride public transit except for the indignities of the crowding 2. Schools: with the number of people joining the neighbourhood there needs to be more schools designed appropriately for a city with the density of Toronto. My children go to North Toronto and love the density and this is a good design. 3. Yonge St: Yonge St is unique because it serves as a major traffic artery as well as the major shopping street for the area. I am appalled at the limited crossing available on the street. I have been in other major cities where this is solved with timed and more frequent lights which suit both cars and pedestrians better. 4. Walkability: For some reason, "street furniture" and "street trees" seem to trump space for walking on the sidewalk. Yonge Street north of Eglinton has become so littered with raised tree beds, billboards, bus shelters that there is very little capacity to walk down the street. Street Trees either block cars or pedestrians. 5. Chaplin Estates: this area (south and west of Yonge and Eglinton) is a very nice residential neighbourhood. I recommend like in downtown, more exreme traffic calming measures are taken. I recommend redirect traffic in a circuitous fashion to prevent through traffic would be appropriate. Particularly while the crosstown is being built, the traffic on east-west and north-south is very heavy and aggressive for a residential area. I am afraid this will continue after the cross town is complete and the area is significantly more dense. It would be a goal to have cars largely bypass the area I appreciate your consideration of my recommendations.
