The Coalition on the Niagara Escarpment endorses this amendment as a first step to having all of Mount Nemo re-designated to reflect newer known science. The Coalition would like to see the whole Niagara Escarpment Plan Area reflect more modern environment science as part of the 2015 Plan review. PERL has been forced to do the Ministry of Natural Resources job because the Ministry lacks the resources to do what it is supposed to do. PERL hired the scientists and then forced the Ministry of Natural Resources to re-evaluate significant wetlands and Jefferson Salamander habitats found by PERL and their scientists. PERL is now again doing what the Ministry should be doing; requesting the Ministry confirmed reassessed lands be appropriately re-designated. PERL should be highly commended and this amendment should proceed as soon as possible. The reassessment and re-designation of the rest of Mount Nemo must follow post hast.. MNR is going to have to rethink its human resourcing to better protect this World Biosphere Reserve.
