I know AIM has put all these improvements on the table showing how they intend to mitigate the noise with Sound Walls and Acoustic sound diverters, etc. But this is all Theory...none of this has been proven that it will actually quieten or lower the noise decibels they generate. In fact its possible a Wall might call the Sound to reflect to the top part of the community. I think that the Ministry needs to hold off approving any more noise or particle pollution increase until AIM can prove that it can get the noise it makes today under control.

In conversation with the Local Ministry I was told there ECA Sound levels were based on the same limit as the "Average" Road noise level so they don't increase the impact to the community. Then we have a couple of problems. Either the Road noise doesn't actually average a noise level of 65 Decibels or AIM isn't making there ECA levels because they predominantly louder than the road. We can hear them clearly over the road all day long. Why would AIM bring in a sound engineering firm from Montreal to do there sound testing in Hamilton? Are there not Sound firms in Toronto? AIM has been doing this for a long time so they know the noise limits they operate at. Isn't it convient that the Sound Company from Montreal found the Road Noise at the same level AIM needs to operate at?

AIM needs to first apply the changes to correct the noise issues today. They are still the loudest impact to our community. The Ministry said they shouldn't operate or add noise above what was pre-existing, well they do. Every day. Ive measured that road noise and I believe the average is far less then 65 Decibels, in fact I believe it will average more around 55-60. So how can we be sure, we need an independent sound measure. Not from a company hired by AIM. And if correct, then AIM's ECA's should be lowered to those levels, not allowed to get louder. And this includes lowering the ECA's at night and on Weekends. The Road noise after 6pm drops dramatically to well below 50 decibels and so should AIM. This is the same on the weekends, AIM should be required to operate at levels below 50 decibels on the evenings and weekends.

Under no circumstances should the ministry consider allowing them to increase either the noise or particle pollution as they are already the largest impact to our community. We need to restore our quality of life and get some peace and quiet back to normal levels. The impact from AIM has been unbearable since 2016.
