Changing bait locations to being only 30m from a road or trail is a very large decrease from current regulations. As the average person walks 1m per second, this would mean that bait would be a 30 second (on average) walk from trails or roads. This is an unreasonable decrease from current regulations, especially if they are based on complaints relating to access. 30m is a VERY short distance.
I believe this would increase instances of human-black bear interactions, potentially causing unsafe situations. This is especially true, as one can easily visibly see 30m into most wooded areas from a trail. This would be especially present in increasing road mortality events if they are being baited within 30m from roads where the public has access to drive on.
Therefore, I am against these changes. Unlike the comment made in the proposal, I am NOT against hunting.
