There should not be permit fees when someone wants to build buildings on their own land and the conservation has it deemed wetland, (even though it is driest field on farm), also no permit fees for municipal ditches. these were designed to drain the fields and now the conservation areas seem to think that when a culvert needs to be replaced a permit fee is required, upper thames just rubber stamps this at their meetings, township is already paying a levy so why another fee on top of it. they have held up ditch work in some cases for more than 2 years

conservation areas need to go back to their original mandate. slowly over time they have become more powerful and pushed the envelope as far as they can, farmers are one of the best conservationists that there are and conservation areas are hindering more than helping

the levy that is charged to the local municipalities are way out of hand especially with the Upper Thames Conservation area, their strategic plan is costing the municipalities thousands of dollars and now with the local provincial government cutbacks, the upper thames conservation area will just pass the shortfall to municipalities as stated by a representative from upper thames on the local news station, there is only 1 taxpayer and we are getting hit from every angle. this all needs to stop, our government needs to do the right thing and stop the conservation areas like the upper thames that have got out of hand
