We believe that contrary to the statement made by Colacem who are trying to re-zone our beautiful agricultural land to enable them to put up a cement plant which would be extremely damaging to the air we breath and the contaminants to the soil and the waste water discharged from the plant into the Charlebois Creek towards the Ottawa River, which will contain serious amounts of cadmium and other heavy metals. Many people in this area take their drinking water directly from the Ottawa River and there are boaters who use the river for swimming so this would not only be devastating for people who rely on this water but also for human activities and our wildlife. Our government is supposedly trying to make a greener planet. Putting industrial waste like this in a rural area such as this, with the river be so close at hand would be a complete catastrophe!
