Having just learned about the construction of the Colacem Cement plant near our property, I am more than concerned about noise, land, air and water pollution. Quite a few projects have been realised since 2005 to preserve the heritage of one of the oldest villages in Eastern Ontario. With a high stack to distribute particulates the effect on land will be broad and this certainly have economic effect on surrounding farms, tourism, recreational and campsite all of which are within few kilometres of this site. This is unacceptable and completely out of sync with your green environmental policies. This plant is right in the heart of our community and along side a declared World heritage site Ottawa River. The Province has been moving in the direction of green industry so why would this government approve a heavy industry that in the past was a heavy polluter and those industries are usually located far away from populated areas. I have contacted my municipal elected officials , the county representatives as well as the Federal and Provincial MPs indicating my reluctance in accepting this industry in this area. Therefore I do not want a zone change and do not want this Ministry to approve this industry environmental application. Stick to the green program you have started in this province on which you were elected and do not accept this application. Thank you for your attention to my concern.
