We are in support of the movement of bear baiting distance to the proposed distances (from 200m to 30m) for outfitters. However, we do agree that in populated areas and/or near towns where this could be an important proposal. However, in our area where we are in unorganized townships with very little development other than outfitters and a few private camps, we feel there is very little need to have the extended distance for bear baiting. This hunting distance/rule does not coincide with other hunting rules such as small game, trapping, moose hunting, water fowl. It does not make sense to us that it is only for bear hunting/baiting which carries the same effect of hunting. It seems like it is more of a target against outfitters hunting bear whether it is spring or fall than it is with hunting of other species.
