You claim that Ontario is committed to world class protection measures for endangered species. I am ashamed to be an Ontarian after reading through this bill. Your proposed plan that allows payments to be made in lieu of protectionist measures for at risk species and ecosystems can in no way, shape, or form come close to being sufficient. We are in the midst of a global epidemic. Species are disappearing at an alarming rate. No matter what this fund can do with the money, it will never be the same as protecting a vital ecosystem and all its inhabitants. This seems like a ploy to line the pockets of your developer friends. Ontario (and ALL that lives here) deserves so much better. How dare you. Take legitimate action to protect endangered species using science-backed proposals. We will not stand for this.
