Mines and their location remain a concern. Mines belong in more remote areas but certainly do not belong in pristine watersheds. There are areas where tourism presently represents 75 % of the economic activity in these cottage areas. Given this fact Mines Jurisdiction should not allow at this point even exploration. Madoc , Bancroft are areas where mining created environment problems for a very long time. From the Gold Mine era Moira Lake a hundred years later is still a cesspool created by the arsenic from The Gold Mines. The Government of the People must protect its assets. Copper Mining with the demand for electric cars has become popular but has the same arsenic exposure. The pristine watersheds must be protected to protect the current healthy ecosystems.
If Governments will not be judicious financial mismanagement like the 407 will happen again. For the People and by the People should be the maxim of any Government.
