I am in full support of the expansion of the Greenbelt into the areas of SImcoe County especially in the Township of Oro Medonte. We are loosing our green spaces to development at an alarming rate.
There continues to be support from our elected officials for the expansion of high density housing on our green spaces. Plans for new homes continue to be approved without the proper infrastructure being in place.
We do not have a publicly owned and publicly funded sewage system in place in our settlement area. Instead many of our residents are hooked up to a "private" sewage facility that is for profit and owned by a large corporation. The rest are on private septic systems.
There doesn't appear to be any plans to build a facility that would be owned and managed by the municipality. Instead there is discussion about allowing for expansion of the private facility so that development can be continue to be approved at an alarming rate.
Much of Oro Medonte sits on the Oro Moraine. This is a environmental sensitive area. The province needs to take the lead and reduce the erosion of our green space and protect our water.
Thank you,
