The proposed changes to the Crown Forest Sustainability ACT are unacceptable to me as the owner of 145 acres of forested land abutting upon Crown Forest. We already have enough problems with Crown Forest lumber companies intruding upon our property and failing to respect the required distances from wetlands, etc. They should NOT now be allowed complete freedom to destroy forests for non forestry purposes e.g. by building utility roads which all too often divert the natural water flow to the wetlands which are vital to our ecosystems. And annual permits should be required for their work programmes —- these existing regulations are the only reason why they bother to consult with neighbouring landowners at all. And surely we neighbouring and area landowners have equal rights to protection of our property rights!
Moreover Intact stretches of forest and natural lands are both vital habitat and essential to combating Climate Change. Therefore for all these reasons we are very OPPOSED to these proposed changes and strongly request our Ministry of Natural Resources to oppose them too.
