Please reconsider the impact…

Please reconsider the impact this bill would have on the future residents of Ontario. While it may benefit business in the short term, the long term impact of possible pollution of our waters and loss of natural areas is devastating. We must protect our water and our land. It is said that water will be the oil of the future and this bill is only looking at short term conditions. In particular, schedule 16 weakens municipal authority to protect our water. In turn, we must protect our health and the health of our children. Municipalities must be able to protect water from pollution and other risks. Fines must be kept in place at higher levels so industry does not find it easier to pay a fine now but make future profit at the expense of the health and well-being of Ontarians. I am extremely concerned with the lack of protection of natural resources in Ontario for the benefit of the few industrialists or business people whose only concern is profit.
