This proposal is removing important work and regulation that had been done to limit exposure and use of pesticides. This is dangerous and would lead to an increased use of these chemicals. It is very important that many of these amendments not be approved. Just because a pesticide is approved for use by the federal government does not mean that it should be used provincially.
Glycophosphate & Neonicotinoid pesticides should be banned in the Province of Ontario for all personal and commercial sales. There use should be banned.
Additionally the exception of Golf Courses – These exemptions are outdated and need to be removed. In some jurisdictions, such as Ontario, golf courses are required to disclose pesticide uses to the public on an annual basis. However, there is no requirement to gradually reduce or eliminate cosmetic pesticide use. People living near and around a golf course are exposed to the chemical pesticides that the golf course use.
