My wife and I own a cottage on nearby Cameron Lake. We object to this proposal because of its proximity to Green Lake, Cameron Lake and the river/creek that runs through the property entering Green Lake. There are many people living in close proximity to the proposed site including West Guiford, the homeowners directly on the property line and those around the aforementioned lakes that will be adversely affected by odours and water quality issues in the surrounding lakes and drilled wells. These sites if necessary should be 5km plus from communities and our lakes.
In an area with such low population density, you would think it would not be too difficult to find a more remote site. It seems as though the sewage company is only concerned about what is convenient for their business without regard for the environment or neighbouring residents. Isn’t it about time that government provides the sewage industry with approved sites rather than leaving it to individual companies to find there own sites and having this debate repeated every few years.
