At the best of times, the constant desire & pressure from conservative politicians to reduce taxes really irritates me. Taxes pay for our police. Taxes pay for our fire services. Taxes pay for our roads. Taxes pay for our schools. Taxes pay for all the things that make this an amazing place to live. And to reinforce this point with a personal perspective - taxes pay for the great health-care we receive and literally keep my wife alive day-to-day. Count me as a very happy tax payer.
So, this relentless message from the Ford government and their ilk that somehow taxes are "bad" is both tiresome and dangerous. And this proposal to reduce development fees is yet another attempt to appease the anti-taxers and take another swipe at the quality of life we all enjoy.
Oh, and taxes pay politicians salaries. And they shouldn't forget that.
