The Kleinburg & Area Ratepayers’ Association would like to offer the following comments, referring specifically to the proposed Northwest GTA Transmission Corridor Identification Study.
On October 28, 2019 we sent a letter to the Minister of Transportation, with copies to The Honourable S. Lecce, the Mayor of Vaughan, Regional Councillors, and Councillors for Vaughan. At that time we stated our preference for the S8-1 Route in the Section 8 area as it would better serve the growth areas of Nobleton, Bolton and Schomberg and would expedite traffic accessibility and would be less invasive to greenbelt and agricultural lands.
To date, there has been no decision made by your team. In an email to KARA dated April 21, 2020 from The GTA West Project Team, it was indicated that there will still be ongoing consultations and the “Preferred Route will be presented at the Public Information Centre #3 (anticipated to be held in Fall 2021/Winter 2021)”. KARA is very much of the opinion that the Transmission Corridor should be aligned with the GTA West Corridor and hence would like to see it to follow the S8-1 Route in the Section 8 area. It is also the preferred route recommended by the City of Vaughan.
Sincerely
Kathryn Angus, President
