I was shocked that this proposal flew under the radar to most residents of the affected area.
There appears to be little consideration by the province of environmental concerns with the huge increase in organic waste processing at this location, and the transport of endless loads of putrid organic waste products being trucked through residential streets 24 hours a day.
Our local councillor was kept in the dark until very recently and has requested the environment ministry arrange public information sessions, which should have been done in the first place.
We fought for years against sickening odours emitted from the Highland Creek sewage treatment plant, and the proposed trucking of sludge through our community.
The proposal should be denied.
This operation belongs in an area away from homes and schools.
I see little attention paid to environmental compliance here.
