Over the past couple of years, truck traffic has increased on Manse Road and Coronation Rd east of Manse. Manse is relatively narrow road, and trucks frequently cross into oncoming traffic and block lanes when making the turn from Lawrence southbound. The route has several townhouse complexes, many single family homes, a community centre, a baseball diamond and a K - 8 school that is on the city's 'Model Schools for Inner Cities' program... meaning that the school community already faces special challenges. This is a 'Community Safety Zone' for all it's worth, but that doesn't prevent the speeding. The road is uneven, and the sound of heavy trucks on the rutted road combined with the air brakes and large engines of the heavy trucks means that there is rarely quiet in this mostly residential neighbourhood. The noise and pollution from the trucking, both night and day, adversely affect the community and by extension, the children attending this school. Many live in the adjacent townhouse complexes and have bedrooms backing onto Manse, where truck traffic is not even limited by time of day, so continues overnight. Noise pollution is considered detrimental to both mental and physical health...truck traffic on this route should be DECREASED, not increased. The city itself has a public health warning about the negative impacts of environmental noise on all citizens, particularly children:

This project needs to be stopped, and the existing truck traffic and polluting industries reconsidered for this heavily populated and vulnerable community.
