It is appalling to learn of this proposal to build and operate a large waste processing plant in a location surrounded by residential dwellings. West Hill is a young and vibrant, family neighbourhood with many schools within 600m from the site.
My husband and I are both young professionals, and recently moved into this neighbourhood in hopes of growing our family here and enjoy the many parks and trails nearby. However, the heavy truck flow this plant will introduce into the neighbourhood will interrupt the quiet, family, and pedestrian friendly streets.
West Hill has also been part of government's neighbourhood improvement consideration, and I believe introduction of this plant will further deteriorate the neighbouhood.
Low income neighbouhoods should not be treated as a dumping ground!
Marginalized groups should not be taken advantage of.
Our built environment can have a significant impact on our health, and this plant will certainly harm this neighbourhood's traffic safety, air quality, and much more.
