Re: 2021-24 Conservation and Demand Management (CDM) Framework
CDM is the most cost effective means to achieve stability in Ontario’s electricity sector. It is also has been a catalyst to help us with our utility management strategy and our sustainability commitment to help the environment.

We are a mixed use commercial office with two tower that share an atrium and parking complex. Our range of tenants have specific needs which present challenges in meeting utility management objectives. CDM support has helped us. We enrolled two office towers into the OPSaver program to continue to work on energy efficiency improvements. We are grateful that the Ministry listened and provided a Directive to the ieso to extend CDM into June 2021. This extension is allowing us to focus on our response to COVID.

We would like to assist the Ministry’s efforts from our CDM experience as well as experience from other incentive programs. If we can achieve these savings, others can as well!

We suggest:
1) Return energy audit funding that covers 50% of the audit cost.

2) Develop a COVID response process for HVAC operation
NRCan’s Existing Building Commission (EBCx) experience and the new CSA EBCx standard is available to help.
