Hello. I do not support the proposed exemption of the GTA West highway from a full and thorough environmental assessment and the move to a shorter streamlined assessment. While improvements to the EA Act and process are worthwhile and not in dispute, I strongly support the findings of the GTA West Corridor Advisory Panel and their recommendation to develop a single, comprehensive regional transportation plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe. I also trust their modelling that found that highway extensions and expansion projects (planned, under way or in some cases completed) provide travel benefits approximately equal to those of the proposed new highway corridor. As well, building Highway 413 will mean more GHG emissions from vehicles as traffic increases, moving Ontario farther away from meeting its climate change goals. Please take this opportunity to build back better and smarter. It's the perfect time to move forward with a fresh vision instead of doing things the same old way just because it’s always been done that way. Our kids and grandkids will thank us. Thank you for the opportunity to comment on this important matter.
