I would like to voice my support for the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s (OMNRF) efforts to expand the legal harvest of wild raptors in the province of Ontario. Having worked closely with the restoration of the peregrine falcon while I was at McGill University, I can attest to the importance of science to support a proposed plan of action. The OMNRF’s proactive, scientific based approach to wildlife management will improve the quality of falconry as well as simplify the administration of the sport in the province. I have enjoyed practicing falconry in Ontario, and I look forward to further OMNRF regulatory changes to expand the sport to encompass other types of birds of prey.
