I oppose this proposed legislation to permit people to take more wild raptor species for falconry purposes than is currently allowed.

I strongly feel wild birds should not be the source of raptors used in falconry, excepting one circumstance - the bird was somehow permanently injured and cannot be released back into the wild. Otherwise, wild birds should remain wild birds.

All species in Southwestern Ontario are at risk due to habitat loss; even though some species seem abundant at the present time. We need to take steps to conserve our existing wildlife, and further take steps to enhance their lives - which does not include the taking of young raptors for the exclusive use of people practicing falconry.
