I am writing in support of the proposal to expand wild take of live raptors by licensed falconers. Falconers are uniquely situated in their understanding of birds of prey through experience and a community that, combined with each other’s experiences, possesses an astonishing array of knowledge on raptor care, medicines, behavior, and lifespans. In addition to this knowledge, surveys of wild populations of raptors in North America pre and post capture by falconers have demonstrated zero impact on raptor populations.
