Greetings,
I hope this proposal is passed and the falconer community can have access to wild take of these magnificent birds. Not only is falconry a living link to the past but it has been the knowledge and experience with these birds that has greatly aided in the conservation of and continued research so vital to the survival of birds of prey. This proposal will benefit the falconry community but it will also benefit the bird species. If you severely limit the take of young birds from the wild you also severely limit the return of mature breeding age birds to the wild. The mortality of young birds of prey in the wild is extremely high, any bird taken by a falconer gets a leg up and has an exceptionally high survival rate into adulthood and breeding age. By allowing a falconer to take a young bird they are more prone to releasing a breeding age bird, this is a simple win/win for all. Please pass this proposal.
Respectfully,
TJH
