I am writing to comment on your ERO 019-1806 regarding wild take of certain raptors in Ontario. I live in Ohio and can certainly support your proposal. The take of the wild raptors in your proposal factor in the large populations of these birds and the fact that the small take by the falconry community would have a negligible effect. The other plus to this (in Ohio anyway) is that virtually all the birds taken from the wild survive and that many of them are released back into the wild by the falconer after 2 or 3 seasons. It has also been my experience that falconers as a group are some of the most ardent conservationists I have been associated with and are very concerned with wise use of the birds used in falconry.
