I support the widening of falconry take for Ontario falconers. Falconry has long been shown world-wide to be a no-impact sport. The proposed wild take is a minuscule drop in the bucket compared to normal annual first-year mortality.
Falconry is a UNESCO-recognized heritage sport. It has been practiced for thousands of years across the globe.
Other than knee-jerk reactions by animal rights groups with no experience in falconry or training birds of prey, there are no significant objections to falconry anywhere.
I urge the Ontario government to expand the falconry take and allow falconers to continue to practice this noble art. Thanks.
